With the holidays rapidly approaching, I have been itching to decorate for my favorite time of year. Ever since I was a child, I have loved everything about Christmas - the food, traditions, decorations, and family all gathering to celebrate our Savior's birth. Nothing gets me in the spirit of the holidays more than decking the halls! My grandma and mom are the driving force behind my love of decorating for the holidays. They always made the house feel so festive and warm and I have definitely followed in their footsteps to bring this cheer into my own home.
As evident by my love of neutrals, my Christmas style is no exception. I always follow the same rule when it comes to decorating - emphasis on neutrals with small pops of color. There is one rule
breaker to my neutral style, however, that always steals the show - THE TREE! ... or three. I love Christmas trees so much that I now have three which are decked head to toe with ornaments given to me and collected by me over my past 28 Christmases.
Although my family has many Christmas traditions, my all time favorite tradition is to gift an ornament (or two) to your children every year so by the time they have their own tree or family, they will have an entire collection of special ornaments to decorate the tree with. By the time I was eighteen, I had a pretty large collection of ornaments, each with significant or meaningful memories attached. To this day, I always gift my husband and friends with an ornament every year to keep the tradition alive. This year will be my son's first Christmas and I am SO EXCITED to gift him his very first ornament to start his collection!
As for other Christmas decor, my go to shops for pieces to complete that neutral holiday style are Target, Pottery Barn, and Etsy.
Target - Why is it that you go in for one thing and come out with 10? Target always has cute and affordable decor pieces to complete that neutral look.
Pottery Barn - Although on the pricer end, Pottery Barn's quality can't be beat! I love their holiday pillows and throws. They always have the best patterns and softest, cozy fabrics. Be on the lookout for their friends and family or black friday sales to find cozy pieces for a steal!
Etsy - I wish I had discovered Etsy sooner! The small shops offer super fun and unique pieces that will have all your house guests talking.
